Women’s History Month Celebration 2024

In celebration of Women’s History Month, tune in for the above special podcast series that I especially compiled from the archives. These are sermons that I have preached over the years. One of the resources I used for these sermons in addition to the Bible, of course, was Women of the Bible by Ann Spangler and Jean Syswerda. You will find my special sermons on “Women of the Bible” at the following links on the Spreaker podcast platform:

The Shummanite Woman

A Full Jar-The Zarapeth Widow Connection

Both the “Syrophenician Woman’s Desparate Plea” and “A Gleaner’s Harvest Delayed is Not a Bountiful Harvest Denied”, are sermons that were recorded and posted on Spreaker but somehow got lost in translation. However, those links are forthcoming either by virtual relay or edits to this blog post. Stay tuned.

Dr. Terrie Hylton Fiber Art Opening Exhibit

Dr. Terrie Hylton’s fiber art opening exhibit took place at the Michigan Chapter of the National Council of Artists Gallery on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Northwest Activities Center. It was a wonderful event that brought together a full house gathering of Terrie’s lifelong friends, art enthusiasts and art collectors. There was an array of twenty fabric pieces and a variety of delicately crafted quilt cards that were sold to support the neighborhood gallery in which the event was held. The show entitled Faces and Places Fiber Works of Terrie Hylton contained her depiction of  some of the city of Detroit’s most beloved landscapes in an assortment of vibrant colors, textures and threads designed and interlaced with both focused and abstract panache.

Join her and friends for an educational and insightful discussion about her art at an uplifting artist talk on Saturday,  March 30, 2024,  Easter Eve at 12 Noon at the Northwest Activities Center located at 18100 Meyers Road.

The Joy of the Lord…Nehemiah 8:10

Hear more about it. Listen to my podcast at this link:(forthcoming).

Nehemiah was a great prophet. He was instrumental in rebuilding a wall that had been tattered and broken down in Jerusalem by enemies. His efforts to rebuild the wall  rekindled hope and faith to inhabitants of Jerusalem. One of his most notable sayings is the one we can still find truth and comfort in today. To come into deeper understanding of God’s joy being found in your strength it is important to note the context in which Nehemiah communicates this statement to his people at that particular period and time in Biblical history. “The joy of the lord” is associated with strength a number of times in the Bible.
