Good Morning and Praise God Saints:

This morning's scriptures are Matthew 6:33 and Hebrews 11:1

Matthew 6:33

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

Jesus spoke these words during his Sermon on the Mount as his way of teaching about how to overcome worry, anxiety, and the pursuit of material wealth. The Kingdom of God  is reference to God almighty sovereign authority, rule, ever present and active presence in a human being's heart, life and decisions rather than any physical ground or territory.  God's kingdom is a purely spiritual non-material sphere, entity or territory, if you will. The classic concept of "territorial imperative" is out of place in this context as God's kingdom is infinite and eternal not measured by space, time,possessory interests, material gains, accumulations or ownership.

Righteousness is living with moral integrity pursuing God's standards, ethics and caring more about being in alignment with God's principles and purpose for your life than pleasing people.

The Promise of "All these things" refers to primary needs like food, shelter, clothing that God shall provide unto you.

Hebrews 11:1

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen".

Substance is faith, the foundation or confidence in God's power to manifest and actualize a person's hopes and dreams.

Evidence is formed by a person's belief and trust that God will provide realities assured by faith but cannot be seen with the human  eye.

The context is  that this scripture was written in the New Testament to encourage early Jewish Christians facing trials

 and encourage them to trust God's word over their immediate visible situation.

A Creative Prayer of Trust

Today's reflection about trust is based on the following scripture and you may find the fuller version of it in video format on the "Chaplain of Pop" You Tube Channel:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight" Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV version)

Trust is important in building lasting relationships.The bottom line is that it is important for us to be honest and trustworthy in our dealings with one another as much as possible.

I have learned through the trials, the storms and the tests of life, and they are sure to come, to place my complete and total trust in God. That is, I rely on God working through the person or situation for my higher good. Let God place on someone's hearts what their actions and behaviors should be towards you. As the coin says "In God We Trust". It is in God we should always place our trust. With God you can't go wrong. You may not always like the outcome. But it will always be for your highest good. Human beings may fail you,but not the creator of the universe,the maker of man, woman, child,heaven and earth, the alpha and the omega.

Here's the prayer:

"God, I am trusting in you to somehow work this situation out and resolve it for the highest good of everyone concerned. I rely on you to place on each person's heart the behavior or actions to take that would be pleasing to you in this matter. Maybe the one thing I wanted was not what the other person wanted or what you would have for either of us. Please shine your light of clarity and help all concerned to see your will and your way. I surrender everything and turn it over to you god. I trust in you."

My Prayer for ...

Thought I'd lift up today this audio podcast entitled "Poetic Blessing" for a friend who is always there for others and a blessing to them in so many ways. In case he has forgotten in the face of the challenges and tear downs that seem to have reached epidemic proportion in today's society whether in fever pitched political campaigns or in the barb wired gossip industry, there are some people who do really care. Many don't always express it as consistently and vigorously as they ought. Love and praise can most times,if not ultimately, neutralize or counteract "tear downs",misrepresentations and "snark attacks". Let this poem serve as a gentle reminder that you are the best and that you remain in my prayers.

Entitled "My Prayer for John",it is included in the closing segment of a podcast recorded on February 20,2008 entitled "Poetic Blessing".
